“Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus,”
Acts 3:19-20 ESV
A few years ago, God told me to make a devotional called Times of Refreshing. He revealed it would be based on Acts 3:19-20 and that it would be a weekly devotional. Honestly, for some time I did not like the name. I even asked God a few times to make sure that was the correct name, hoping that maybe I heard wrong or the name would be changed. But Times of Refreshing was indeed the name.
I did not start as soon as God revealed the devotional to me. Instead, I delayed starting. I had so many reasons for not starting. I said to myself it was due to finances; I needed money. I said to myself it was due to time; I needed more free time. Also, I was not in a good place with The Lord or my mental health, so I did not have the passion or want to get started. I was broken and caught up with the cares of life. But even during that time, He was always close to my broken heart and working on me.
Then, in the summer of 2024, I had a turning point because of an encounter with the presence of The Lord at my church. I turned back to The Lord. It was the beginning of a spark. I felt it was time to start the devotional. I started planning and getting some things together, but I was still a little reluctant. Slowly though, I was getting closer to really starting.
Then, the weekend of October 25, 2024, I had another encounter with The Lord at the Acts 242 Discipleship Conference in Atlanta. I repented, and I was refined.
After the conference, I became eager to start the devotional. Getting started was a challenge, but everything came together once I started relying on The Lord. And now it’s here.
My prayer is that the call of Acts 3:19-20 would echo in every devotional post, received by you and that you would turn to or back to The Lord. I pray that with every devotional each week you would be moved to repentance. Then, times of refreshing would come and a fresh anointing would be placed on you. I pray that each devotional is Christ-centered and that you will be led to make Christ the center of your life. May a hunger to know God through the scriptures, prayer, and worship be stirred in you when you read on this site.
I hope as you finish reading, this devotional will become a part of your faith journey. But if not, then my prayer is that just by reading this section you would turn to The Lord, repent, and the times of refreshing would begin in your life now.
Let glory be to the only God, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, The Beginning and The End, The Alpha and Omega, The Highest, Yahweh, The Sovereign King, Emmanuel. Amen.
